'Views from Memorial Benches' is a documentary project I am currently working on.
This series captures the view you can see while sitting on a memorial bench, and explores the history and regulations behind them.
While coming up with project ideas for my Final Major Project at university I explored lots of ideas and many were left in notebooks for me to pick up at a later date. One project I couldn't stop thinking about was this one. Once I'd finished my FMP I started looking at news articles and researching whether this kind of work had been done before.
Living in Bognor Regis, I had always noticed that there were many benches of this nature local to me, so I decided to begin my journey here.
For each bench I will be taking a photo of the view, the bench itself, and the plaque. Then each one will be titled using the text from the plaque.
